Parent - we have an important job to do...

The events over the last week have really made me feel sick to my stomach, the Brock Turner rape case, the singer being shot, the Orlando shooting, the explosion in Beirut, the Japanese bully case, the hooligans causing chaos in France...

As a mom in the boonies in Japan, I don't feel like there is much I can do, personally, you know?

But actually, I can make a change, I can teach my child that:

Rape is wrong.

That racism, sexism, extremism, and every other "ism" out there, is wrong.

That bullying in any shape or form is wrong.

That using blanket statement to describe a nation/religion/etc is wrong.

That Hate only creates more Hate and doesn't solve anything.

That listening to the other side of the argument is important, even if you don't agree, understanding the other sides perspective is important.

That it doesn't matter what colour skin, where someone is born, what religion they follow, we are all the same on the inside, and we should treat others the way we would like to be treated.

I am one mom, with one child but if I can do a good job of teaching these values to my child, then the world will become a better place.

There are 1500 people who like this page, most with one or more kids, I'm guessing 2000 - 2500 kids.

If we all do the same, that is 2k better people in the world.

If we can spread it further, if us moms (and dads/grandparents/aunts/uncles/brothers/sisters...) do the same, we CAN change the world.
It starts with us. Us parents have an important job to do.
