Nagoya Science Museum

Our second day we in Nagoya, we decided to go to the science museum. We arrived, after a leisurely breakfast at about 10am. We had to queue to get in for about 40 minutes which didn't bode well.

Well, what can I say. It is a fantastic museum but NOT when half of Japan are jam packed in there with you. There is a lot of hands on stuff to do but it was so busy the kids didn't have an chance to 'work' the exhibit and get a proper understanding from it. It was all very much of a push this button, pull that rope run on and do the same somewhere else.

I would love to go again when it isn't busy, say on a school day! But this visit, I can't really say it was very enjoyable. Proving that, I only took a couple of photos, this was a whirlwind experiment that they did, which was pretty cool.

We ended up leaving earlier and heading back to the hotel to pick up the bags and then to the train station. We did a bit of shopping then jumped on the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka, we then have to get the not-very-fast express train to Wkayama. We got to Baa-chan and Jii-chans absolutely shattered!

  1. That is a lot of people! Too bad :(. I hate that about traveling in Japan. We've always gone at less crowded times, but easy for us to do because we're in Gifu.

Totally not on the route between Tokyo and Wakayama, but have you been to the Dinosaur museum in Fukui? One of the top three in the world...pretty amazing.

    1. The museum in Fukui is on DH's hit list of places to go, he looked at it this time round but decided it was too far out of the way and to be honest, i don't really fancy it in obon.
This museum looked great but it was way too crowded :(
