Last year when I was regularly posting about the after effects of the quake and tsunami I talked about the Tohoku Cotton project. The idea is to plant cotton in areas such as rice paddies that were damaged by the disaster, cotton is a much hardier plant than rice and by growing it the project can create employment, not only with the farming of it but with the production of the cotton as well.
Well, the project is well under way and there are many companies involved, the site has a basic English page but if you click over to the Japanese site there is a blog and info about everything that they have been up to, it is great to see something positive coming out of the disaster don't you think?
