Since my aunt discovered that Ebi-kun likes to design his own T-shirts she always sends him a pack of plain T-shirts so that he can do what he likes to them, some of his past designs are here, here, here, and here. I had already made him a '6' T-shirt, a tradition I started when he was three I think, each year he gets a new 'age' t-shirt, he is still wearing his '4' shirt at yochien! Anyway, I gave Ebi-kun a pile of scrap fabric that already had bond-a-web ironed to the back (I always keep the scraps, you never know when you might need them!). I told him to cut out what he wanted and place the pieces on the t-shirt to make his design. Whilst he was doing this I went to finish off another project.
When I came back downstairs he had made up his design, so I showed him how to iron the pieces in place. It is the first time he has used the iron and then he declared that ironing was fun - the fool, I will will be holding him to that when he has school uniforms that need ironing.
Then I took over, we decided between us to use black thread so it looked like pen and to do free motion stitching, I didn't like the idea of Ebi-kun doing free motion sewing, not yet, so I did the stitching and just played along with it. I expected him to make an animal or a specific object of some kind but he said he wanted something with a funky design, so it is rather abstract! Another one to add to the collection.
That's really cool! Very stylish. He has a good eye for form and colour, just like his Mum!!!
