Blueberry picking...

Yesterday we went blueberry picking with a group of friends, it turned out to be a very social occasion! We had 7 adults, 5 kids and a baby. We aimed to get to the farm early before it got too hot and picked as many blueberries as possible, I forgot to take any photos and only got this one!

After we finished at the farm we picked up some lunch and headed to Shinrin Koen which is just a few minutes drive from the farm. The park is lovely, it is massive and has a great wading pool.

Ebi-kun, H-kun and N-chan had a great time playing together, the water soakers that Tammy bought were well used, this time on each other!

I met Heather (H-kun and N-chan's mum) when we were both pregnant with the boys, I didn't know any other moms here, let along foreign ones and it turned out that they were both due the same week but Ebi-kun was a week early and H-kun hung on for two more weeks. I love the fact that Ebi-kun has a friend who is not only the same age but also has an English mom and Japanese dad, I think it is important for the kids to know that they are not strange or odd because they are 'half'.

As we were leaving Ebi-kun asked to look at the kabuto-mushi (rhinoceros beetles) they had an enclosure full of them. This is where Ebi-kun and H-kun differ, there is no way H-kun was going to set foot in the place lol.

We got home just in time for tea, shattered! I caught the sun a bit despite covering myself with cream and staying in the shade as much as possible. It was lovely to catch up with everyone, a couple of the friends I haven't seen for about 3 years or more.

Now I have a big bag of blueberries to do something with, if you have a fabulous recipe of any sort, please share. I will be back with some crafty projects soon....
