A weekly round up of posts and information after the quake.

Over on Teaching Village there is a post about how children around the world have been dealing with the earthquake, I would love to know if any of the children affected here have been getting some kind of therapy like this.

Socks For Japan have set the deadline for May 16th for the last shipping of socks and Jason has put up a post comparing the aftermath to a war zone, his pictures are breath taking but not in a good way, if you know what I mean, you can see them here.

Foreign Volunteers Japan are currently looking for musicians May 8th in Kesennuma.

If animals are your thing then there is a FB group, Direct help for Victims and Animals Rejected From Shelters in Japan that needs your help. There is also Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support, again on FB.

Finally for today, a snapshot of the workers in Fukushima reading the letters of encouragement, J-san is still collecting letters so if you missed out the first time you can pass it on to me and I will send them on, they need to be in Japanese though. There is lots of information about the reactor posted on FB in the Fans Of the Three Hundred Silent Samurai in Fukushima page.

I am not a big fan of FB but since the quake I appreciate the important role it played, it certainly helped me to keep family and friend informed and would have saved a small fortune in phone calls if this had happened pre-internet days. There are also loads of groups set up where like minded people can get together and make a difference and that is what is important at the end of the day.

As for us, life is pretty much back to normal, the grab bag is still by the door, just in case and in the last week or so there have been far less aftershocks, lets hope it continues that way. I have read that they are now moving many people out of shelters and into temporary housing and schools have started to re-open, so everything is moving forward, slowly but surely.
Of course, others have started to suffer what with the terrible tornadoes in America, killing so many and wrecking so many homes, it seems like Mother Nature is on the war path just now.
