I have a problem, (some would say more than one), but the current problem is that I have too much fabric and not enough shelf space. Hmmmm.
So to in an effort to get out of this non creative funk, tidy the sewing room and make a dent in the fabric stash, I have come up with a challenge for myself.
I have decided that this month I have to make 20 new things.
The self imposed rules....
Out of the 20 items
Everything has to be made from fabric I already own.
The only things I am allowed to buy are thread, cord, snaps etc.
There must be at least 3 large items (to use up lots of fabric)
At least 3 items are for gifts
At least 3 use new to me patterns (from books I own)
1 item must be a treat for myself
3 items must be for the home
Some of the items are to go into the shop
and something to donate

Initially I thought of making something new everyday but then when I looked at my schedule I realised that was doomed to fail from the start, 20 items are achievable, I think!
I made a start yesterday, I will post about that when I have taken the pictures.
What an awesome challenge. I have a growing stash of fabric (it's hard to resist them...), but I'm not to the point where I need to de-stash. Yet. I DO however, desperately need to get rid of some of my yarn, so I may copy your challenge a some point when my day job is less hectic.
ReplyDeleteGreat challenge! Good luck! I'm looking forward to seeing what you make.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with that one! I'm not joining in at the moment but maybe when the craft room is a bit more sorted.....
