Once Ebi-kun had remembered the colour order for the bead pyramid I introduced the short bead chains and skip counting. He picked up quickly but what surprised me more was that a couple of days later he was in the back of the car and just started skip counting in 5's. His little brain must have been whizzing because not long after he announced that five tens is the same amount as ten fives and that six fives is the same as three tens - an 'a-ha' moment.
