Tanabata

today, July 7th is Tanabata which celebrates the meeting of Orihime (Vega) and Hikoboshi (Altair). The Milky Way, a river made from stars that crosses the sky, separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar. Since the stars come out at night, the celebration is held at night.
Children write their wishes on pieces of paper and tie them to bamboo trees, at our local shopping centre they had streamer decorations up and bamboo to tie your wishes too. BabyEbi drew a picture on his then we tied it up, sadly I can't read many of the wishes, one I could read was Ryosuke wishing for a DS (one of those double screen hand held game gadget things!)
The weather isn't too great today so I doubt we will be able to se the star crossed lovers tonight.
